When the region’s brightest minds come together, innovation takes centre stage. At SEMICON Southeast Asia 2025 in Singapore (20–22 May), NSTIC (GaN) participated in a week filled with ideas, collaboration, and new possibilities. As part of the Singapore Pavilion, the centre showcased its latest work in RF and mmWave GaN technologies and joined conversations about how research and industry can work hand in hand to strengthen the semiconductor industry.
Sharing GaN Advancements at A*STAR’s Innovate Together Forum
A highlight of NSTIC (GaN)’s participation was the A*STAR Innovate Together Forum on 21 May, which was part of A*STAR’s inaugural event focused on advancing semiconductor R&D in Singapore.
Prof Geok Ing Ng, Executive Director of NSTIC (GaN), joined a panel of thought leaders to share the centre’s ongoing research in RF GaN-on-Si technology. His presentation highlighted how GaN enables compact, high-efficiency, and thermally robust systems that support next-generation communication networks such as 5G, satellite systems, and emerging 6G applications.
Prof Ng also emphasised NSTIC (GaN)’s mission to bridge research and deployment through strong collaboration with both industry and government, ensuring that deep-tech innovation continues to strengthen the semiconductor industry ecosystem.
Building a Stronger Semiconductor Ecosystem
The forum also featured discussions on RF/mmWave, advanced packaging, silicon photonics, and heterogeneous integration. Together, these topics showcased Singapore’s deep expertise in semiconductor R&D and reinforced how collaboration across different domains drives progress in the semiconductor industry.
By connecting researchers, manufacturers, investors, and policymakers, platforms such as SEMICON SEA create valuable opportunities for cooperation and shared growth. NSTIC (GaN)’s participation reaffirmed its commitment to building a robust semiconductor ecosystem through open dialogue and joint innovation.
